Understanding IDA
IDA stands for iron deficiency anemia, and it is the most common form of anemia. Anemia is a condition where you don’t have enough healthy red blood cells to carry adequate oxygen to your body’s tissue. When this occurs, it may cause you to feel tired or weak.
How iron plays a part in the body
Iron is needed for many functions in the body, especially to help form red blood cells. If your body doesn’t have enough iron, then fewer blood cells are produced. With fewer blood cells, your body doesn’t receive enough oxygen.
How an iron infusion can help
An iron infusion can help increase the iron in your body. Your doctor may decide on this treatment if your blood tests have shown that you do not have enough iron in your body.
What to expect before treatment
There are no special preparations to make before treatment with Monoferric. You can eat and drink as normal and take your usual medicines.
You may have done so already, but before treatment, you should give your doctor your full medical history. When you come into the clinic, a nurse can provide additional information about the treatment and what you can expect.
